this year, we will not hold a training session on the evening before Lobby Day. Instead, we’ll talk about the dos and don’ts, lobbying tips, distribute talking points, etc. in the morning on Monday.
A couple important points:
Meeting location: When you arrive for Lobby Day, meet us in the Capitol Basement, by the House Hearing Rooms (east side of the building). WINS staff will meet you and direct you to the appropriate room. Please arrive as close to 7:30 as possible (there will be coffee and donuts!) so we can get started on time.
Parking: As you may know, parking in downtown Denver can sometimes be tricky, so here is a Lobby Day parking map you can use for the day. We discourage using street meters: most are for 2 hours only, which means you’ll have to go in and out of the Capitol (and through a security line) to feed it, possibly missing your meeting with a legislator.
Lunch: We’ll host lunch just across the street from the Capitol at the CEA building (1600 Grant St.). If you have dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance by filling out the Confirmation Form. We will invite various legislators to join us at lunch so you may have a chance at a more in-depth discussion with your lawmaker.
Hotel: If you’re coming from more than 75 miles away, and you’ve spoken to an organizer about your reservation, your room is booked for Sunday night, March 19, under your name at the Holiday Inn Lakewood (7390 W Hampden Ave, Lakewood, Colorado 80227, 303.980.9200). Here are directions on how to get to the Capitol from the hotel.
