Meet the District 1 Chair.
My name is Daniel Berrios and I am running for District One Chair. I have been a state employee for ten years and have been active with our Union for about a year and a half. I have been serving on the statewide LMC for the past year, I am also a member of the bargaining team. In addition to those committees I have also helped numerous members with investigative meetings, R610 meetings, and have organized several actions that resulted in better working conditions at the Department of Public Safety. I am running to ensure that state employees receive a proper wage that we can thrive on, a proper work life balance so that we can enjoy our time away from work with our families and loved ones, and a positive work environment that values all members and their contributions. None of this is accomplished on accident and none of it is accomplished by one person. That is why I am running on the Prosperity, Justice, and Respect slate. Each of the people on this slate running for every district believes in these same goals. As a group we hope to move our Union forward and ensure that we accomplish those goals for all state employees. But to do that we need your support. We move forward as one and when we do that we win as one.
Meet the District 1 Vice Chair.
Hello my name is Chris Francis. I come from a union family that goes back to my grandfather and my father. Because of their involvement with the unions, they were both a part of, I have gained a solid understanding of what workers’ rights are. This has given me a connection with unions, union activities, and the various events that take place in being a part of a union. I have a connection with workers united for better financial compensation for our time and the ability to provide proper medical for ourselves and our families. The work we all do for our employer the State of Colorado is a necessity for both the state we all live in and the citizens who live here. As a member of the Labor Management Committee I will provide proper stewardship focused on looking out for my brothers, sisters, and their families. In our day to day activities we focus our attention on the task at hand. As a member of the LMC, for you, I will be able to focus on the events that effect our jobs and how they provide for us along with making sure we have good work environments that are both balanced with fairness and equality. I realize that our supervisors and the upper management have a duty to keep costs at a minimum, but not at the cost of creating an unfair work environment that deserves adequate compensation and healthcare for the work we all do!
