Today Colorado WINS members held our first negotiation session with the Department of Corrections. I was proud to represent you from Sterling Correctional Facility alongside our colleagues Brian Hines (Buena Vista Correctional Facility) and Carla Woods (Denver Complex)

Your survey responses lead the way for us to present several proposals to improve how we do our work in the Dept. of Corrections.

As your bargaining team, we remain committed to winning an agreement that recognizes our sacrifices and the value we bring to Colorado communities by winning a contract that:

- Improves safety and security throughout each facility

- Implement a fair, voluntary overtime system and mandate process for all DOC staff

- Eliminates favoritism in promotions, lateral moves, and work assignments

- Raise employee retention rates and attract new employees

The strength and commitment of our members are the very reason Colorado continues to run, and by standing together we will win the strong agreement we deserve!

We will meet again with the Department of Corrections management to continue on February 25th, 2022.
