State employees work hard every day to serve Colorado, and deserve contracts that protect their rights and recognize the value of their work.

We fought to win the right to collectively bargain in 2020, and negotiated our first contract in 2021. In 2024, we completed our first renegotiation of our Partnership Agreement with the State of Colorado, securing a new three-year contract that runs through July 2027.

State Entity Agreements

Our 2024 Partnership Agreement empowers us to negotiate specialized State Entity Agreements with our departments, creating tailored solutions that address the unique challenges we face across state government. When state employees unite, we win contracts that bring dignity, fairness, and respect to our workplaces.

Colorado Department of Human Services

We secured staffing ratios for 24/7 facilities, faster payroll corrections, incentive pay for lead and sitter shifts, and new weight given to years of service in transfers and promotions.

Bargaining is Here!

In the coming months, we are going to be bargaining the first-ever union contracts specifically for CDOT and CDLE workers.

Like fellow state employees in the Departments of Corrections, Human Services, and Revenue, we will have the opportunity to secure provisions that address the specific issues we’re facing in Transportation and Labor & Employment.

Nothing is ever given to workers. We have fought for everything we’ve won. As abolitionist Frederick Douglass said, power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has and it never will.

Key wins in our 2024 Partnership Agreement

Cost of living increases: 2.5% in year one, 3.1% in year two

A pathway to 2027 implementation of a new Step Raise system

$16.88 minimum wage for all state positions

End to annual raise struggles with predictable increases

Clear on-call policies with fair compensation

Standards when asked to do extra work due to staffing shortages

Bargaining contracts isn’t just about making our work lives better. It’s about making our lives better at home, too. It’s about making sure we can be there for our families.
