We’re running out of time to stop Medicaid cuts. GOP leadership hopes to bring their reconciliation bill to a full vote as early as next month if they can pull it off, so we can’t let up. That bill directs the Energy and Commerce Committee to find $880 billion in cuts, and that can only come out of Medicaid.

Losing federal funding for Medicaid here in Colorado means 1.2 million Coloradans–including a lot of state workers–will lose healthcare. 

So let’s all do everything we can, right now, to stop that from happening.

A lot of us have been going out to rallies, sending in postcards and emails, and calling our Congressional Republicans, and that pressure is absolutely working. After being put on notice by his constituents and Coloradans from across the state, CD3 Rep. Jeff Hurd finally signed on to a letter to his Republican colleagues hoping to mitigate Medicaid cuts–except, as it turns out, he thinks we need work requirements.

But we know better. In Colorado, imposing work requirements would mean cutting off healthcare for an estimated 108,000 people who already work or are disabled, are in school, or are a family caregiver.

Colorado’s other Congressional Republicans are still doubling down in support of plans to gut the program.

So let’s all take action now. There are lots of ways to help. Come out tonight to the Emergency Medicaid Town Hall we are co-sponsoring in Gabe Evans’ district. Send an email to our reps telling them to stop hiding and do their jobs by stopping Medicaid cuts, or organize a postcard signing event in your workplace. We’ve got everything you need here.

We ALL do our jobs, and now it is time for them to stop hiding and do their jobs.

That means coming out of hiding and standing up for everyone in Colorado by voting against any Medicaid cuts, including any work requirement for recipients.
