I want to wrap up 2025 by saying how grateful I am to witness us all link arms to fight for our future and keep Colorado running, in spite of mounting hardships. The holidays are a time for us to reconnect with people. Let that reconnection guide our hearts and minds as we reflect on the work we’ve done and are doing for everyone living in our state. 

I also want us all to think about the more than 300,000 federal public service employees who have either been fired or who have retired or resigned this year because they fear being fired. 

Their stories demonstrate that we can’t take anything for granted: if we want to hold on to state jobs and services and the wins we’ve negotiated that make state workers’ lives better, we cannot let our guard down, not even for a second.

As we head into one of the toughest yet budget years here in Colorado, we must keep our union strong. 

So, if you are lucky enough to be taking some time off over the next few days, before you head out, take a minute to turn to the co-workers around you who aren’t yet part of our union, and remind them that if we want to hold on to the wins they benefit from, it’s time for them to contribute to keeping us strong by joining now.

The most important holiday card is your union card. The more members we have, the stronger our union, and the stronger our union, the happier the new year will be for all of us.
