Our second round of endorsements are here.

Union members on our COWINS Political Committee have completed their second round of endorsement interviews for candidates running in primaries for our state legislature.

We must elect the candidates who will defend Colorado’s budget, champion our contract and state services, and fight tax cuts for corporations and the ultra-wealthy. We need candidates who will fight for the interests of all working people, including our members and the public we serve.

If you would like to take part in our union’s candidate vetting process, fill out our Political Committee interest form. A staff member will follow up with details about upcoming interviews and how to get involved with the committee!

In addition to supporting these candidates through the primary and general elections, we’re also working to get a crucial measure on the ballot: the Graduated Income Tax.

Right now, the top 3% are taxed at the same rate as the rest of us. A Graduated Income Tax (GIT) would raise their taxes and lower them for the rest of us, raising $2 billion in revenue for the state to help fund health care, education, child care, our Partnership Agreement, and state services, making life more affordable for all of us.

Let’s “GIT” it on the ballot for November!
